This film brings you the unique opportunity to meet Cheng-Khee Chee AWS DF, NWS and learn his philosophy and styles of painting and how they have added emotional depth to his work.
The ‘workshop’ is divided into two parts. In the first part you learn the four creative principles Chee has developed over his 38 years of intensive study, principles he adheres to faithfully. Chee shows you how to create your own bank account of creative imagery, with glimpses into his sketch book and painting studies. Chee presents and explains the importance of his six different techniques with beautiful examples of each style. Each approach has evolved to best express his feeling toward a specific type of subject.

DVD - Chinese Brush Painting with Kwan Jung
Kwan Jung, NA, explains materials, shows how to hold the brush, and demonstrates six traditional Chinese subjects: prawn (and the 10 basic brush strokes), swallow birds, bamboo in calm weather, bamboo in wind, hibiscus, horses and cowboy, viewed at multiple camera angles for clear instruction, making it all look easy. The serenity of his personality is reflected in his work.
Kwan Jung uses the following materials in this workshop: Two ply Xian paper, black ink (ink stick or liquid ink). Watercolor: blue, orange, yellow and red. Brushes: Mid-size sheep hair brush, bamboo brush of fox hair. Kwan recommends practicing with one brush until comfortable then adding one brush at a time. Chop of soap stone for seal, red seal ink.
