"The Menu" - Painting Demonstration

I start adding a little more detail to the lions head and mane by defining the direction of the fur and adding shadows and highlights to give depth. I use short brushstrokes on the lions face where the fur is short and longer brushstrokes on the thick mane.

I introduce more detail to the area around the lions eye using a size 1 brush and mixtures of raw sienna, raw umber, naples yellow, burnt umber and ultramarine.

I continue to add detail to the rest of the lion and add more depth to the mane using shadows and highlights.
