"Laying Dog"

This dog portrait is one of a series of thirteen from our starter pack range.

Stage 1
I started by applying 101 to the left ear and side of the head in the direction of the fur, then adding a little 184, 273 and 187 before darkening with 176 as shown.
Below is a table of the colours and their numbers used in this example:
| 101 - White | 187 - Burnt Ochre |
| 184 - Dark Naples Ochre | 199 - Black |
| 273 - Warm Grey | 176 - Van Dyke Brown |
Stage 2
I laid the foundation colours to the eye with 101 for the highlight, 187 for the top of the iris, 184 for the bottom of the iris, 101 then 184 on top of 101 below iris and 273 for the bottom of the eye. Note how the white pencil lines follow the direction of the fur on the head, although this application should be solid, as shown on the left side.
