Step By Step Acrylic Painting Lessons

"Mystic Past"

By Trevor Tennant

Due to the popularity of this Work in Progress section I decided I should update it with a more recent painting.

Starting December 11th I will be updating this section daily to show you the landscape  painting I'm currently working on. You will be able to come back each day and see how the painting has progressed. The landscape painting is a 14.75" X 46" panorama. It will be an early morning landscape setting with an old stone foundation as the focal point. There will also be a whitetail buck wandering through the scene.

I'm using acrylic paints on gessoed hardboard (masonite).

Day One, December 11, 2004: Switched to an airbrush to help fill in all the white gesso areas of the painting. This creates a nice base to start the detail work.

Day Two, December 12, 2004: Started painting in some of the trees and main elements of the landscape. Click on landscape painting to enlarge.
